In addition, Mayan religion was characterized by worshiping nature gods such as rain, sun, and lightning. Some aspects of religion still survive today among the Mayan Indians of Mexico or Central America. This could have guided or lead their daily lives by sun and rain predicting how Mayan lives differ. Example, if there was a huge storm occurring, the Mayans would figure out how their lives may be influenced by crops and fertile land. Another fact of predicting civilization is the Mayan calendar. In this Maya book there were twin brothers that were skilled at a ballgame. When they played they made so much noise that they disturbed the gods and the gods challanged them in a game. They beat them, buried them, sacrificed them. The head of one of the brothers were hung on a tree. His name was Han Hunahph. One of the godesses was curios to see it. So she went to the tree and the head split into her hand. It made her pregnant. Then she had two children named the hero twins when they grew up, they were skilled at ball playing too. And one day challenged gods were defeted the gods grinned up their bones and put them in a river. They were reborn as fish then as performers. They returned for revenge to Xibalba then made a trap. They demonstrated a variety of astonishing feats. The gods were so happy with their traps, that they begged to sacrifice and be revived as well.(National Geographics )
